Lydia is passionate about creating community, and lending her voice to organizations that she cares about. These include Music Heals, The Canadian Mental Health Association, The Salvation Army, Vancouver 24 Hour Relay, and many more. Please email if your organization is interested in teaming up with Lydia for an event or project.
In 2014 and in 2015 Lydia curated the Vancouver component of the Acoustic Guitar Project. This community engagement project based in New York City sent out 35 guitars to cities around the world. Lydia organized 10 of Vancouver’s best musicians to take part, where each received the guitar for one week to write and record a new song. To hear the songs and learn more about the project please go to: http://theacousticguitarproject.com.
Lydia organized this show to raise awareness of the healing power of music both personally and in the wider context of community and society. This event raised money for local charity Music Heals. Participating artists included Ryan Guldemond (Mother Mother) Dominique Fricot, Hilary Grist, and Head of the Herd. A video series highlighting the event was also released, to further benefit Music Heals.
As an Ambassador for Music Heals Lydia organized a BC wide Ipod Drive to collect used IPOD’s to donate to Music Therapists working in BC. Sponsors for this project included Long & McQuade stores across BC, The Peak 102.7, The Biltmore Cabaret, Nimbus School of Recording Arts, and Open Door Yoga.
